【18日・欧州委員会発表】欧州委員会のダヌータ・ヒュープナー委員（地域政策担当）は、本日、「市町村・地域当局の役割は、グローバル化の問題に立ち向かっていくにあたって、さらに重大になる」と述べた。ヒュープナー委員は、セビリヤにおける会議「2013年以降の地域政策の未来は？」の演説において、「EUの結束政策は、これらの問題に取り組む際に本質的な役割を果たしている。市町村・地域当局は、政策を各地域のニーズに合わせる際に演ずべききわめて重要な役割を担っている」と述べた。
